Determines income eligibility for core LBCAP services

The United State Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) sets the income eligibility guidelines each year for services provided through the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG).  CSBG funds are used to support a wide range of services to low-income residents in Long Beach and surrounding cities, including:

• Ensuring access to community facilities and services
• Offering employment training and internships to youth and adults 
• Educating and mentoring children, youth and young adults
• Providing supportive and therapuetic services to parents
• Preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and families
• Helping seniors maintain stable, independent residences
• Sheltering and counseling persons with disabilities and victims of domestic violence
