We help people overcome poverty

The Long Beach Community Action Partnership (LBCAP) helps people overcome the crippling effects of poverty, live with dignity, and achieve their full potential. Since 1979, we’ve served the Long Beach area with advocacy , energy assistance, skills development and youth programs.

In 2012, we expanded our charter by reviving our local public access television station and community media center, PADNET .

We belong to a nationwide network

LBCAP is part of a national network of approximately 1,100 Community Action Partnerships helping make self-sustainability possible for those facing educational, social, or economic barriers. Our mission includes community advocacy and skills development for the people we serve.

We also collaborate with an alliance of local partners;to ensure the people of Long Beach and Eastern L.A. County have access to the programs they need.

We champion communities

Community Action changes people’s lives. Our programs embody the spirit of hope and make America a better place to live. We care about and support whole communities. We dedicated our resources to helping people help themselves and each other.

At LBCAP, we aim to set the standard for service excellence in the fight against poverty. Learn more about our philosophy, services and how you can support us.

We can’t wait to see what’s next

Since 2006, we’ve been hard at work launching innovative new programs, more than tripling our staff, and increasing our budget seven times over. We’ve been able to keep our staff efficient through smart partnerships. LBCAP continues to grow by identifying industry best practices and planning ways we can put them to use in our community, serving those who need it most.
